Diving for Pearls

Diving for Pearls by Katherine Thomson
Date: 21 to 30 April 2011
Directed by Micaela Elphick
This social drama is very convincing and stars Ken Barnett (Den), Robyn Blackwell (Barbara), Peter Firminger (Ron), Sally Jackson (Verge) and Cassandra Holdom (Marj).
This cleverly written play about restructuring and redundancy in working class Australian towns will keep you glued to your seat as the characters unfold their stories with great Aussie colloquialisms - and the odd bit of swearing! It is a reality play that you can relate to on a personal level.

The Twits
Date: 19 to 28 November 2010
Roald Dahl created some revolting characters in his time, and Fiona Burless will be bringing them to life in our end-of-year production.
The cast calls for six adults and three or more children, and it would be good if the children had some acrobatic skills (or pretensions). Never mind if you think you don't have the necessary skills - as usual, we'll show you how as we workshop and rehearse the show.
Naturally, we need even more hands on deck to work as crew - a wonderful opportunity to join in the fun and learn a lot into the bargain.

David Williamson's Money and Friends
Date: 2-4, 7-10 July 2010
Valley Artists presents David Williamson's Smash hit MONEY AND FRIENDS
A revealing clash between materialism and ideals, it is David Williamson at his best demonstrating as always his acute observation of the Australian character.
Peter (Craig Howe), a mathematician who is niceness itself, is in financial trouble because of his brother's bankruptcy. His neighbour Margaret (Micaela Elphick), decides that he needs help from his friends, who are all wealthy. What happens is funny and confronting.
First performed in 1991 this play is found to be every bit as relevant to us in 2010.
Great characters and superb comedy - Don't miss it!
