Sponsors Night

Congratulations to Valley Artists on a wonderful sponsors evening.
The punters had a delightful time and were reminiscent to the level of delight only usually reserved for fond memories and deceased family pets. You know the ones that have that wonderful way with your heart. I don't know if the players out the back could hear the utterances of Ooooh and Aaaaah when someone recalled a moment on screen. Some of the joy was from watching a "sponsor" audience member delight in something one was not familiar with. It was all rather happy and soulful.
It was a surprise when the second half overflowed with all the live theatre hits of the company's history smartly intermingled and unencumbered by too much time wasted trying to get the perfect product. I believe, at least for my eye, that the night was all the richer from the small and numerous fopars which the punters saw. With that said the production never lapsed into the all too familiar look in amateur theatre where too much of a bad thing can be coughed up in the disguise of nostalgia. All mistakes were met by a wry grin and I'd say vastly overlooked, especially by those who had not seen the production before but got to delight in the tid bit served up on the night.
One of the hits of the evening from the first production 'Come To Pieces' was the skit "Judgemental" written by exlocal Peter McDonough. That brilliant courtroom satire is a hit.
I easily visualized the STC with it's patrons in fits and stitches... and then on to Melbourne and ....You get the picture, I'm sure.
Well we had a great time and feel free to please forward my thoughts and comments to others in the community and those other wonderful reprobates who make up the company of the wholeful and soulful Valley Artists.
