We have just finished our latest production, "Absurd Person Singular" by English playwright Alan Ayckbourn, directed by Fiona Burless (The Anniversary).
The play is set over three Christmases in the kitchens of three couples: Sidney Hopcroft (Darren Philip), an ambitious tradesman, and his submissive wife Jane (Shae Thommeny); architect and adulterer Geoffrey Turner (Steve Pembroke) and his depressed wife, Eva (Karen Butler-Hues); Ronald Brewster-Wright (Neville Newman), a banker, and his wife Marion (Bronwyn Duncan). The three couples range from working to upper class.
Valley Artists encouraged people from the district to get involved in our theatre company, whether from a technical or production perspective, or to get out there and tread the boards. We were thrilled to introduce Shea Thommeny and Bronwyn Duncan to the stage for the production of Absurd Person Singular and welcomed back popular players Neville Newman and Karen Butler-Hues as well as Darren Philip and Steve Pembroke for their second on stage production.
