Performance - March 2010

Date: 19-Feb-10

"A big thank you to all VA people - our audience, our sponsors and our outgoing committee - great support for a great year", was the message from 2009 President Bob Philippe at our AGM.

In 2009 we produced two major works - Little Voice and Ugly Duckling, which was a first for producer Cordelia Howell and for its all-children cast. We sponsored an outside production - Romeo and Juliet with the Mad Cow Theatre Company. Our Sponsors' Night was a major success, as we all turned Roman for a night. The Film Festival was another success.

We ran a successful workshop, and granted scholarships to five locals to allow them to increase their expertise in their various fields.

We have obtained new rostra, allowing us to offer more comfortable seating for our patrons in future productions, and we have received a grant to purchase a computer and generally streamline our operations. Watch this space - we are planning several new projects which will increase our capacity to continue our program.

Our committee for 2010 is Alan Glover, President; Tim Williams, Chairman; Louise Clarke, Secretary; Cordelia Howell, Treasurer; Charles Smith, Public Officer; and Committee Members Janine Oliver, Michaela Elphick, Peter Firminger, Peter McCloy, Karen Butler Hues, Bob Philippe, Neville Newman, Claude Aliotti, Jordis Pointu and Fiona Burless.

Our first production for 2010 will be David Williamson's Money and Friends, directed by Bob Philippe. Opening date is July 2, continuing on July 3, 4, 7, 8, 9 and 10 at Laguna Hall. Note those dates now - this will certainly play to full houses.

Interested in becoming involved? Contact Bob on 4998 8278. A great opportunity for the cast of nine, including a young male in his twenties. Rehearsals commence April 20. There is always a need for stage crew - an opportunity to work behind the scenes. Get involved now!
