Wollombi Valley Short Film Festival celebrates 10 years
The Wollombi Valley Short Film Festival committee is proud to announce 10 years of the Festival, held annually in the picturesque Wollombi Valley, and one that makes an important contribution to ongoing success of the many film makers in the region.
This year is going to be big. Already film makers are enquiring about the submission and screening dates, and quite rightly so because this year the date has changed from the usual Friday night in late September, to the Saturday night of the long weekend in October! So the screening date is now 4th October at Laguna Hall.
Regarding this, long time producer of the Festival Janine Oliver commented "We found a lot of film makers wanted that bit of extra time to get their films finished, and we all know there's a lot going on in September in the Hunter, so we thought to fold the film festival into a really great long weekend, and if people want to, they can book a place at one of the great local B&Bs, and catch the rugby league grand finals on Sunday as well at one of the local venues!"
This is a great fun opportunity to get your film into a much loved and well supported film festival. Cut off date for film entries is 14th September 2008.
So send your entries to

Valley Artists is excited to announce the company's end of year production to be held from November 21st to 29th at Laguna Hall.
"ECLECTICA"
A confection of new theatre.
Directed by Alan Glover
This show will provide three great opportunities: First, for local playwrights to see their work staged. Second, for new local directors to put theory into practice (these new directors will have attended Bob Philippe's ‘Introduction to Directing' course, July 26-27). Third, for theatre goers to enjoy an evening of original thespian art.
Calling back to the show that formed Valley Artists, "Come To Pieces," (1998), and "Come To Bits," (2000), "ECLECTICA" will contain comedy and drama in long and short form, providing entertainment for all tastes.
When asked what we should expect Alan said, "Topical themes, thought-provoking content, and some very silly moments."
Those interested in taking part in "ECLECTICA" (writers, actors, & stage crew) are encouraged to contact Alan on 4998 1656. Alan will require scripts by August.
It Just Ain't Cricket! Sponsors Day a Success!
- A blurred vision of Boonie supported by Lady Batswell.
- Squawking Seagulls swooping in to steal the punters food or squabbling over a few left over hot chips.
- A Streaker on the village green - and we were fortunate to only have one. She was larger than life.
- SECURITY!
- A Sniffer Dog - obviously needed more training.
- Sensational food by Shea Thommeny and Sheryl Thomas.
- Action replays showing precise camera angles of the intricacies of this fine game.
- Commentary on the day - the smooth, silky voices of Glover & Philippe.
- And the weather - simply divine.
It' s all in a days cricket really.
