Valley Artists

Performance - May 2009

Date: 20-May-09
Author: Louise Clarke

With our first production for 2009, "The Rise and Fall of Little Voice" at the end of its run, Valley Artists is already in planning for upcoming events and productions for the rest of the year.

For all you budding film makers, the 11th annual Wollombi Valley Short Film Festival will be held on Saturday 3rd October 2009 at our local cinema, Laguna Hall. Yes it is the long weekend, so a great time to invite your friends up for the weekend and let people know about all the fabulous Wollombi Valley accommodation. Get your films in as well...as usual they need to be under 10 minutes, any genre, and no restrictive rules like other short film competitions! Cash prizes, local kudos, professional judges.

The end of year show is announced! We will be presenting A A Milne's "The Ugly Duckling". This one act play will enchant all audiences. More to come regarding auditions, but for your diaries, we open at Laguna Hall on Friday 30th October and run until Saturday 7th November. "The Ugly Duckling" will be directed by Cordelia Howell.

For all of you who are Valley Artists sponsors, we will be holding the exclusive sponsors event later in the year. We are forbidden to disclose the theme so no asking. If curiosity gets the better of you and you haven't yet become a sponsor, please visit our website for details or speak to Tim at Laguna Shop. Only sponsors and their guests are able to get tickets to this event... and it is a production of its own.

Our first show for next year will from the popular Australian playwright, David Williamson. Bob Philippe will be directing.

More on this in the months to come (with so many to choose from Bob hasn't decided which one to do yet).

On behalf of Janine Oliver and all the cast and crew of "The Rise and Fall of Little Voice", we hope you enjoyed the show, and look forward to seeing you at the next Valley Artists production.
