New Valley Artists Committee for 2009

The Valley Artists AGM took place on Saturday 20th December 2008 at the Dairy, "The Grange", Wollombi.

The incoming Committee was nominated and the following individuals are announced as office bearers for VA activities to be held over 2009.

  • President - Bob Philippe
  • Vice President - Alan Glover
  • Chairman - Tim Williams
  • Treasurer - Cordelia Howell
  • Secretary - Louise Clarke
  • Public Officer - Charles Smith
  • Marketing - To be confirmed in the next OON
  • Equipment Officer - Neville Newman
  • Laguna Hall Representative - Fiona Burless
  • Support Committee Members - Giles Tester, Micaela Elphick, Ken Barnett and Ana Ringmar

The Committee would like to thank Bert Burless for his role as Returning Officer, and Bert and Fifi for accommodating the meeting at the Dairy.

The Committee welcomes Cordelia Howell as Treasurer and thanks Charles Smith and Tim Williams for their sterling contribution to this role over the past 12 months.

Additionally, we welcome our new group of Support Members. It is particularly pleasing to have long time set designer Giles on board, with Micaela whom you know has been extremely active in VA activities over the last few years. Kenny Barnett performs every role he holds with a high degree of professionalism and we are proud of him too, however mention must be made about Ana Ringmar.

We are really very happy she has decided to join the VA committee and we welcome more involvement and input from the under "30's" as their fresh ideas and viewpoints are essential to the company as we move into our 2nd decade of producing theatre for Wollombi and beyond.

Additionally the Committee recognises the herculean efforts of Janine Oliver, who has decided to take some time out from executive duties to focus on her Cuisine-o- Italiano skills at Panino's - in between Directing the upcoming production ‘'Little Voice'' opening Friday 17 April at Laguna Hall, and meeting the Glassworks commissioning deadlines on her days off. Bit of an underachiever really!

You will soon be hearing from us via email newsletters as well as our usual OON contribution. If you would like to be on our email list, please email info@valleyartists.org and we will make sure you get our regular updates about productions, the film festival and sponsorship details. On that note, if you are thinking about becoming a sponsor, NOW is the time!

You will be making a contribution to the cultural history of the Valley, as well as directly helping emerging artists; whether actors or technicians (and particularly our youth) to engage in quality theatre production with skilled professionals. Each year certain of our hardworking volunteers who demonstrate outstanding talent and commitment, are given grants towards training and experience in their area of expertise. Many choose NIDA short courses in specific areas. We will announce the 2009 recipients of VA grants in the next OON.

We thank our generous list of existing sponsors who have been with us from the beginning - 11 years ago - and all that have joined since. We value you and your contribution, because without you we would not be able to hold such a diverse range of productions, and purchase or hire the right kind of equipment to make them happen.

For those who might not know, we are all volunteers, and it takes a lot of time, people and skills to bring each production to life.

More on the upcoming production "Little Voice" will be available soon, but mark the dates in your diary now! Opening night Friday 17 April with performances on 18, 19, 22, 23, 24 and 25. Bookings will be available soon at Wollombi and Laguna Shops.
