Money and You - Another winner for Valley Artists
Someone, whose name is inaccessible at the moment to my memory or Google, imagined the gods sitting in the heavens and laughing at the efforts of us mere mortals to get along together. Being in the audience at Money and Friends last night was rather like being in that position, watching as the cast played out the drama of life at Crystal Inlet.
Money and Friends runs for another four performances at Laguna Hall, and you'll need to book soon, as the word spreads about how good, and very funny, this show is.
Bob Philippe directs a wonderful cast in this most interesting of David Williamson's plays. I don't usually like to pick one moment from so many wonderful moments but today I'm making an exception.
Here Penny (Rosie Glover), in a state of premenopausal hysteria, tries to pretend not to be flirting with Justin (Dain 'Henry' Southwell), unaware that he has been having an affair with Margaret (Micaela Elphick), but certainly known to Peter (Craig Howe). That little scene produced one of the funniest moments in theatre that I've seen for a long time, and this show is full of magic moments.
I'm aware that in my marketing function I may be accused of hyperbole in my reviews of Valley Artists productions. Last night I sat behind Benny Thomas, one of our sponsors. Benny nearly fell off her chair laughing, and I'm sure she is very happy to be a sponsor of such an enjoyable event. I asked if I could mention her in this newsletter, and she happily agreed. So if nobody else has told you that you simply must not miss Money and Friends, call Exisle Publishing for an independent opinion.
Money and Friends is on again next Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights at Laguna Hall. Saturday night is almost certainly sold out.
All tickets on Wednesday and Thursday are at the concession rate of $20. You can book at Wollombi or Laguna stores, or through our website www.valleyartists.org.
A tip: Laguna nights tend to be rather cold at this time of year, so dress warmly - bring a blanket if you like. Enjoy a warm mulled wine at the bar. Laugh yourself warm.
