Valley Artists

Wollombi Valley Short Film Festival

The Wollombi Valley Short Film Festival is held every year in Wollombi Valley, the arts end of the Hunter Valley, NSW.

Entries are now being accepted for the 2012 Wollombi Valley Short Film Festival. Our Film Festival, now in its 14th year, has spawned the career of many filmmakers - and has stimulated our creative community to collaborate - write, produce, direct, perform or take on many of the other important roles required to make a film.

Now is your chance to make a film for your friends and neighbours, to make them laugh, cry, or gasp with fright. We want stories from everyone and everywhere. The youth of our valley are proving to be leaders in all ways and expression through filmmaking is encouraged and highly regarded.

We welcome films from people in the Wollombi Valley or from the broader community. If you know a filmmaker, tell them about the Wollombi Valley Short Film Festival. Encourage them to send us their film. We want to see all styles and themes. All you need are a few characters and a simple story idea. Use local locations, actors and basic props. We want to be entertained, engaged and connected through the medium of film. Make a film that reflects your personality and what is happening around you. If you're a romantic at heart ,go with romantic piece. If you're into sports, a sport drama about the cricket team that almost made it could be good. And, if you're a bit wacky, perhaps an experimental film about, well, anything. You're only limited by your imagination.

We all have a story in us, is it time you told yours? Maybe you can help someone tell theirs?

Films entered will undergo a rigorous selection process, where critical elements of storytelling are interrogated by a panel of Valley Artists members. This panel will decide which films make it to the finalists screening on 29 September at Laguna Hall.

Our judges are professional people, sponsors, captains of industry and showbiz, and it is their job to decide on the night which films are going to take the top 3 prizes. Then it's the job of the audience to decide "The People's Choice Award'.

The Wollombi Valley Short Film Festival is proudly sponsored by Noyce Brothers Wines, and Laguna Wine Bar.
