The Wollombi Valley Short Film Festival is held every year in Wollombi Valley, the arts end of the Hunter Valley, NSW.

2010 Judges

Michael Noyce, Noyce Bros. Wines, Wollombi, and a generous Valley Artists sponsor.

Rob Gibson, Rob Gibson has been active in the Australian film and TV industry since 1966. He has worked on many feature films and programs as diverse as The Aunty Jack Show where he was editor and later director of the spin off series 'Woollongong the Brave' to the AFI award winning movie 'Flirting' where he won that years best editing award.

In recent years he has been an editor on a number of successful television programs including 'Packed to the Rafters' and this years 'Sea Patrol'; Robs highly unusual autobio pic 'Video Fool for Love' opened the prestigious Hot Docs festival in Toronto Canada. Robert is at present shooting his 12 year old son's first feature film 'Away in the Country' being shot locally at Laguna.

Jason Van Genderen, from Tree House Creative. Jason is a creative artist, from cartoon strips, greeting cards, actor, advertising, art director, film maker, winner of Australian film festivals with several international screenings. In 2009 Jason and his partner Shane Emmett won both 1^st & 2^nd prize at the Wollombi Valley Short Film Festival.

Jason & Shane donated the 2^nd prize of $750.00 back to Valley Artists to encourage youth in the art of film making. Their film ‘Mankind Is No Island' cost $57.00 to make and won 1^st prize at Tropfest New York. It was the first ever ‘mobile phone' film to make it into the finals at NY's Tropfest and without our judges knowledge of this, it was the winner at VA's 2009 film festival. They will be back this year to present the youth award.

Since 1998, the Film Festival has encouraged locals and the rest of the world to show their video activities to a most enthusiastic audience.

Up to ten minutes duration is allowed though lately the selectors have been encouraging much shorter work. This allows them to show more films, keeps the pace of the evening up and the content more varied.

Animation, documentary, fantasy, comedy and drama are all welcome. In fact, any work is welcome as are film makers, writers, producers, actors, and audience.
